Chemstations to Sponsor Award at 2011 AIChE CAST Division Awards

HOUSTON, TX (March 1, 2011) - Chemstations, Inc., makers of the CHEMCAD suite of chemical process simulation software, has signed on to sponsor the David Himmelblau Award for Innovations in Computer-Based Chemical Engineering Education at the 2011 AIChE CAST Division Awards.

The CAST division provides relevant programs for AIChE members who share interests in computing and systems technology, especially in the analysis, design and control of process and management systems.

The David Himmelblau Award recognizes an individual or group making new and novel contributions to computer aids for chemical engineering education. Educational innovators working in industry or in a company that develops computer-based educational aids are also eligible for the award. Specifically, the nomination and the citation for the award must refer to a significant contribution to computer-based chemical engineering education within the past decade.

"We are proud to sponsor this award that honors those who so heavily contribute to furthering chemical engineering through education and technology," said Chemstations Executive Vice President and COO Steve Brown.

The award, which includes a plaque and $1,000, is announced during late summer and is presented at the CAST Division dinner at the AIChE Annual Meeting. Last year's award winners were Dr. Michael Cutlip from the University of Connecticut, and Dr. Mordecai Shacham from Ben Gurion University of the Negev. The deadline for award nominations is April 15.
